About Cluffy, LLC

Cluffy, LLC is based in Polson, Montana and we market an insole called the Cluffy Lux Step. This is manufactured in Rhode Island. This is the premier insole for people that have plantar fasciitis and most other types of foot pain.

The Lux Step insole was launched in 2019 as a retail product. Prior to this, Cluffy created and sold the patented Cluffy Wedge mainly to medical accounts and specialty insole retailers. The Cluffy Wedge is a small piece that goes under the big toe. These products were developed by Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Dr. James Clough. As of December 2022, more than 1.5 million pairs of the Cluffy Wedges have been sold. After many years of customers requesting an insole with the Cluffy Wedge from us, the Lux Step insole was patented and manufactured to eliminate foot pain.

Feature 1: The Cluffy Wedge

The plantar fascia goes from the heel to the big toe. When the big toe is raised slightly, it will allow the big toe to move normally and stretch the plantar fascia.If the big toe cannot move upward correctly, it will NOT stretch the plantar fascia and plantar fasciitis usually results. If you have heel pain, it is almost always because of a lack of motion of the foot and big toe particularly. A stretch applied to the plantar fascia is healthy and it brings your whole foot into a stronger position, as you move forward for the next step.

As shown above in the transparent shoes, you can see how the arch design wraps around the foot to enhance and support the foot. When a customer steps onto the insole, the arch presses into their foot; it does not stay flat and fits in the shoe properly without any cutting.

Unlike traditional insoles that only support one arch underneath the foot, the Cluffy Lux Step® shoe insole works to allows the foot to naturally form the three arches of the foot. (Yes, you heard right – there are three arches in your foot).

Feature 3: Gel Heel Pad

Our blue gel heel pad is a great cushion for the heel is comfortable when the heel is very sore. The gel pad absorbs the shock of heel impact with activity. Generally, this impact is two to six times your body weight! The gel material of the pad also keeps the insole in place in the shoe.

Selling the Cluffy Lux Step Shoe Insole

Now that you have a better understanding of the key features of our product and how they can benefit your customers – you can be more comfortable with selling our insole. Better yet – if you have tried our insoles or spoken to another sales associate about their experience, you can share that too.

When you are in the shoe department, most sales associates ask, “Is there anything I can help you find? Or Can I help you?” Then the customer will typically tell you they are looking for new shoes or tell you why they need new shoes – and sometimes mention that they have foot pain. Talk to them about shoes that may interest them and tell them about the Lux Step insole and how it can help as well. (Mention the three key features and benefits).

We recommend that customers with foot pain should try our insole first before buying a shoe, because most shoes alone do not address foot pain issues well. Insoles are less money than shoes, so are a more affordable option to help customers with foot pain. There are times when you find a customer seems very interested in our insole because it is so unique, and you have sparked their interest. Our balance test is a powerful tool to show them one of the key features, the Cluffy Wedge and how this helps with their balance. If you have a couple of minutes available, ask the customer if you can show them something amazing. How To Do A Cluffy Balance Test

1. Get Your Cluffy Retailer Board
2. Have your customer take off their shoes, stand on the floor in front of you while clasping their hands.
3. Face each other and tell them you are going to push down on their clasped hands to try and push them over.
4. Put your hands on top of their hands and push DOWN with pressure. (Your customer should fall forward).
5. Next, have your customer stand on the Cluffy Retailer Board with their BIG TOES ON OUR Cluffy Wedges.
6. Again, face each other and press down on their clasped hands. (Most of the time your customer should not fall forward). Now they should be able to stand upright!

Most customers are really impressed by this and our Cluffy Wedge is a key feature in the Lux Step insole that helps support and balance the foot properly. This is a great sales tool to use to sell our insole. Many more sales are made in our retail stores when sales associates use this illustration. The best part is that if the customer buys our insole, you can be pretty sure they will be back to buy more of our insoles for additional shoes, and you can have multiple sales from this.

Top Three Questions From Our Customers

1. How do I clean the insoles?
Simply use a damp cloth and mild detergent to wipe the insoles off. Do not submerge them in water, as they are not waterproof.

2. Will the insoles require a break-in period before they are comfortable?
You can wear the insoles all day right away, but you will be moving your foot much differently than you are used to, and this may create some temporary discomfort. This will resolve fairly quickly once the plantar fascia ligament stretches to its correct length.

3. How long do the insoles last?
We recommend wearing the insoles as much as possible every day (at least 80% of the time you are on your feet). Most customers get about 8-10 months of normal wear out of a pair. If you exercise frequently, you may need to replace the insoles more often.

As a reminder, when looking for a shoe that works well with our Lux Step insole, make sure the shoe bends well behind the toes and has a good heel counter. Try to avoid a stiffer shoe that doesn’t bend, if possible. The Cluffy Lux Step® insole is most effective with good quality shoes that hold the insole in place and allow the arch support to completely cradle your foot.

Choose the size of the insole based on your customers foot size. If a customer is in-between sizes, go down a size, rather than up a size. Also, if the customer is unsure what size they need, we recommend you use the Brannock device and measure the foot heel to toe. (Make sure the insole size is selected based on the foot size you measure heel to toe, not the shoe size). The correct size of the insole is on the package, and if the insole is short in the shoe, this will not be a problem because the insole will not slide in the shoe, it will stay put.

If you have a customer with plantar fasciitis, some may notice an immediate positive response to the insole, while others will require a few weeks for the damaged tissues to heal. Let them know that every step is therapeutic and stretching the plantar fascia. Try to ask how the Lux Step feels in their shoe and get some feedback to help them further.
